STEADFAST BY CLAUDIA GRAY REVIEW!

Hey!

I'm continuing with the Spellcaster series by reviewing the second book STEADFAST! Please not if you haven't read the first book you may not want to spoil yourself by reading this review

Steadfast By Claudia Gray

Yeah that's ma girl Verlaine!

Series: Spellcaster Series #2

Published: March 4th 2014 by Harper Teen

Genre: Young Adult Paranormal

Goodreads Synopsis:
"Nadia, Mateo, and Verlaine have saved Captive's Sound from the dark Sorceress Elizabeth...or so they thought. Despite their best efforts, a crack opened and a new, greater evil seeped through. With Mateo as her Steadfast, Nadia's magic is magnified and she is more powerful than ever. But there is still so much she doesn't know about the craft, leaving her open and vulnerable to a darker magic...which has begun to call Nadia's name."

You can find out more HERE

My Thoughts (As non spoilery as I can)

This second novel in the Spellcaster series follows the crazy events at the end of the first book where they are still trying to find out Elizabeth's plan... thinking she was dead they realise the fight has just began! Elizabeth wants to train Nadia as she doesn't have anyone to teacher her magic, but Elizabeth has her own plans to get Nadia to swear herself to the One Beneath. Also enter a new character by the name of Asa who catches the eye of Nadia's best friend and member of the team trying to stop Elizabeth Verlaine. We also find out that there is magic around Verlaine stopping her from being loved but with this new version of someone in town maybe there is more going on...

I do like that we get to see the prospective of not just the 3 main characters but also the villain and her minion, my only issue with it was how fast sometimes they changed, one minute it was Nadia for a could pages them you would get a whole chapter from Mateo...

The relationship between Mateo and Nadia is so cute! I love the way that they feed off each other not just in there relationship but obviously for Nadia as he is her Steadfast so she can use him for her magic. I like that they make each other stronger and it wasn't overly done either it wasn't the main focus of the story which I really liked. And hearing from Mateo's head helped to understand someone his story same with Nadia. I was happy to not only learn about them together but to learn more about them separately and how each of there worlds work.
I was beyond happy to get more info about my main girl Verlaine! she is such a fun character and so easy to relate you, I hate that she has to deal with not being able to be loved but the times when Nadia or Mateo glimpse at her and see her for real made me happy and all soppy! I love how sarcastic she is, she makes such a good contrast with the seriousness and determination that you get from Nadia and Mateo. Plus not going to lie love her back and forth with Asa its so funny and they has such different values but are so a like I hope to see her story evolve more in the final book. Her sub plot was great and made the book flow as it wasn't all about Elizabeth.

I love her as a villain though, Elizabeth is great! She is evil and she knows it but she doesn't care, I liked to see her POV and start to understand her a little bit more plus how her magic works. Now that she is so close to getting her goal it will be cool to see where Claudia Gray takes her from here.
New guy Asa is such a breath of fresh air! I love what he adds to the story as he is so sarcastic and arrogant, he makes the story lighter at times and makes it not seem so serious all the time.

I get that it is a big deal the story but I wish it was just a little bit more lighthearted at times, given the reader more happy moments to balance the story a little bit more. One thing I love about this series though is the magic system, and seeing it so much more in this book makes me love it even more! The way they use memories and different stones to make these spells its so different from other stories and I think one of the reasons why this series is so unique. Learning more about the magic world that Nadia is in made a lot of blocks fall into place that were missing from the first book and I felt like I could understand it all more after this one.

I'm interested and nervous on how this series will end, I have some ideas but with Claudia Gray's books you never really know whats going to happen like in the Evernight series or even about Nadia's lineage... I just hope that it will be action packed with a great story and a good end. I have faith that this will be good and I can't wait to pick up my next Claudia Gray book... I'm thinking A thousand Pieces of you that cover guys is beautiful!

I give this book a 3.75, it was a good read and made a lot of things fall into place but some of the characters did frustrate me a little bit and the POV's even though I did enjoy them were also a little frustrating, Sorry Claudia Gray still love your books girl!

Thanks for reading my review! and stay tuned for more things I hope to do some more reviews maybe even some other blogs!

I hope your doing well and have a great day
Peace : )

Confessions Of Gerogia Nicolson Series Review!

Hey!
Number 1

One of my favourite series I think I have ever read would be The Confessions of Georgia Nicolson, now I know I'm older now but these books still hold a special place in my heart and on my bookshelf!.

These amazing books are written by the lovely Louise Rennison! And she even made a sort of spin off series about Georgia’s cousin Tallulah (The Misadventures of Tallulah Casey).

This series follows Georgia as she navigates growing up, from embarrassing parents, crazy friends and encountering boys! Goodreads official synopsis for the first book

About Georgia's cousin
“There are six things very wrong with my life:

1. I have one of those under-the-skin spots that will never come to a head but lurk in a red way for the next two years.

2. It is on my nose

3. I have a three-year-old sister who may have peed somewhere in my room.

4. In fourteen days the summer hols will be over and then it will be back to Stalag 14 and Oberfuhrer Frau Simpson and her bunch of sadistic teachers.

5. I am very ugly and need to go into an ugly home.

6. I went to a party dressed as a stuffed olive.

In this wildly funny journal of a year in the life of Georgia Nicolson, British author Louise Rennison has perfectly captured the soaring joys and bottomless angst of being a teenager. In the spirit of Bridget Jones's Diary, this fresh, irreverent, and simply hilarious book will leave you laughing out loud. As Georgia would say, it's "Fabbity fab fab!"

You can tell right from the start that this book is bonkers and you will love it! I would recommend this for young girls to old woman, the humour is laugh out loud funny and the drama is totally relatable even when you're older, I get that “Preach to the chore Georgia” thoughts when I read it because we have all been there!

The first in the series is Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal snogging, this starts with Georgia about the age of 14 so it’s a great read to help girls just coming into high school to have a book that understands what they are going through and give them a funny way to see it play out

The next books in the series are It's OK, I'm wearing really big knickers, Knocked out by my nunga-nungas, dancing in the Nuddy-Pants, …And that’s when it fell off in my hand, …Then he ate my Boy Entrancers, Startled by his furry shorts, Luuurve is a Many trousered thing, Stop in the Name of Pants and Finally Are these My Basoomas I see Before Me?. Do note these are the UK Titles as that is what I own a couple of the books names were changed to try be better in the US market so if you want to read them and you're in the US just look up the other names.
So that’s 10 books in all and they are all worth it, I have re-read this series more than any other because when you're in the mood for something contemporary and happy these always make me feel better plus they are such quick reads!

I do have not note she isn't that fond of my beautiful homeland New Zealand but I will forgive her for this as it is just misunderstanding of its coolness and plus she has other things to worry about like boy entrancers and boys and friends and more boys.

She does have a pretty bonkers (Crazy) family with a mum who is all in Georgia's business and trying to be cool and hip, so does her dad but it's great to see that there are moments where Georgia understands her parents and they even give her some advice. She has a crazy sister too called Libby, who is about 3 -4 in most of the books she like all toddlers has that sneaky streak and she likes to dress there cat up in clothes! Her cat Angus is a god, the story lines also involve him and he is very funny, part Scottish wild cat so creates for some very funny moments, like when he ate his lead...

There has to be a set of BFFs and in this series they are called the Ace Gang, its made up of the leader Georgia, Jas Rosie, Ellen, Jools and Mabs.
I love the relationships that she has with her Ace Gang, especially Jas who is her best friend, they tell each other everything and even though she is close with all of the girls  in the Ace Gang Jas is her BFF. But it's so realistic like how you get annoyed at each other but just can't stay mad for too long and how they talk to each other about all the things to worry about, make up boys. I will stay this book is rather girly but it's great to see all of the characters grow up through all the novels.

There is also some lovely sex god boys that the girls, Tom, Robbie, Dave The Laugh, Sven and many more but I don't want to spoil the funny adventures of Georgia and her friends. But lets say it involves a whelk boy and a guy with a big gob

I totally agree with the Goodreads it’s like a young version of Bridget Jones, and I love the imagination that Louise Rennison puts into these books, from the new words, crazy dances to the having the hump scale it's lighthearted and just fun!And find out where you are on the snogging scale ; ). I would love for her to revisit this series later and maybe create an older Georgia dealing with more grown up situations, I love this story and love these characters!

I highly recommend these books to every one of all ages!, one of my favourite authors forever I give this series 5 stars!

I hope you're doing well and have a great day

Author's Note: This is a continuation of the war started in the Peachville High Demons series. You do not need to have read the first series to start here, but you can start the original series for free with the Beautiful Demons box set of books 1-3! Also her other series Sacrifice Me the first part is also free for kindle so go check them out!

My Thoughts

A quick heads up this is the continuation of Sarra's Peachville High Demons series but you don't have to read those before you start this one, it is set up in a way that you will still understand and I have a link HERE to Sarra's post about reading order if you want to get really specific.

This story follows Harper, Lea, Jackson, Aerden and there team of fighters as the war against the order of shadows continues! We now get to not only see through Harper's eyes like in the original PHD series but also Lea, Jackson and Aerden. We follow them as they deal with the aftermath of killing a high priestess of the Order of shadows, they wait worried as to what there next move is going to be and what there enemy is going to do as they go up against the Emerald Priestess, who seems a lot smarter and more power hungry than her sister!. It also follows Lea's story as she deals with the continued pressure to return to her home land and over through her mad king of a father.

I have always loved Harper and she went through such development in the PHD series and now as she is facing a hole new enemy she needs to find that strength that she once had. Its cool to see her growing throughout the book as she has so  much more pressure on her now than she ever did before. She is such a sassy character too and I like he comments and narration plus I love how loyal and compassionate she is, she would do anything to protect her family. Harper is complicated with her witch and demon sides but in this book her powers really come into there own and I love that, such a kick butt character.
This creates such great relationships with her friends, I really love her friendship with Zara and Mary Anne. These friendships are so different as Zara is a bubbly happy go lucky yet kick butt warrior and complements Harper in the way she gives her strength and then with Mary Anne they understand each other as they have had similar situations thrown at them.

It was great in this novel to hear from Jackson and get a look into his character more, its beautiful how he has such undying love for Harper and how even though they have secrets they are still there for each other and treat each other as equals. I saw in this novel how much Jackson has grown and how he is the rock that does hold everyone together, in a lot of situations he is the one to encourage Harper to go with her gut plus he is super hot and a kick up warrior demon!

Lea for me was a character that I didn't originally like, she is very stubborn and it took me some time to come around and it helped having her point of view in this novel. It gave you an insight into the shadow world in the northern kingdom where they grew up. She is such an awesome warrior though and very cocky it makes the book balance well with her character and Harper's. Plus I see a new ship in the works for Lea just got to think of a good name now...

Aerden was a character I was always dying to get a point of view from as he went through so much to be where he is today. He is strong willed like his brother Jackson but a lot more arrogant and confident in a completely different way and it is so easy to understand why he was such a strong warrior previously. But having the events of being trapped happen to him you can see that he is broken and I'm really excited to see where he does throughout the story. I so also love is complicated relationships with Lea and Jackson and hope also to see more of there dynamics, even more with Harper would be great too.

I love the quiet peaceful town idea that is the setting yet it so isn't peaceful with epic witch and demon craziness going on. But it does seem like such a cool town and I picture the fields around Brighton Manor as such a beautiful place especially all the flowers. I liked that I got a look into the darker side of the order of shadows, as the places they keep under there houses are creepy!. The shadow world is awesome to me and I love the way its described makes me want to go there if there weren't crazy Order of Shadow minions everywhere trying to kill me...

The villain is obviously the Order of Shadows and I love how they take such a smart edge in this book, The Emerald Priestess is so smart and not easily fooled which creates for a great dynamic and all the feels! But there is so much more to the villains in this book as the main characters are trying to work out if there is more at play than meets the eye, by the end you realize that some thing big is going to go down in the next book!.

I really do like Sarra Cannon's writing and I think its just gotten even better than her PHD series! It flows so well and it has so many action packed sections that it grips you till the end. I love the way she builds characters and relationships this is where a lot of the story comes from but also the setting makes it so easy to picture this. I really wish I could have some of the jewelry she writes in this series though so cool!

I give this 4 Stars! Oh the feels! However I did get some of the story before it happened and that's what makes it not a 5 star book for me. BUT I highly recommend picking up her series they are awesome and you can start anywhere!

Hope your having a great day and are doing well. Thanks again to the amazing Sarra Cannon!
Peace : )

WENDY HIGGINS THE GREAT HUNT ART!

Hey!

Super excited for Wendy Higgins new book coming out! THE GREAT HUNT!
She has released a sneak peak art from her amazing artist Jennifer Munswami to start getting the word out about her new book!

There is a synopsis out now on goodreads

"Kill the beast. Win the girl.

A strange beast stirs fear in the kingdom of Lochlanach, terrorizing towns with its brutality and hunger. In an act of desperation, a proclamation is sent to all of Eurona—kill the creature and win the ultimate prize: the daughter of King Lochson’s hand in marriage.

Princess Aerity understands her duty to the kingdom though it pains her to imagine marrying a stranger. It would be foolish to set her sights on any particular man in the great hunt, but when a brooding local hunter, Paxton Seabolt, catches her attention, there’s no denying the unspoken lure between them…or his mysterious resentment.

Paxton is not keen on marriage. Nor does he care much for spoiled royals and their arcane laws. He’s determined to keep his focus on the task at hand—ridding the kingdom of the beast and protecting his family—yet Princess Aerity continues to challenge his notions with her unpredictability and charm. But as past secrets collide with present desires, dire choices threaten everything Paxton holds dear.

Inspired by the Grimm Brothers’ tale, “The Singing Bone,” New York Times bestselling author Wendy Higgins delivers a dark fantasy filled with rugged hunters, romantic tension, outlawed magic, and a princess willing to risk all to save her people"

So pretty! Can't wait for the actual cover!

I love the concept of a sort of retelling of some Brothers Grimm stories! I have always been such a fan and they are so epic way better than what they get remade into sometimes! but here is the awesome art for it, please note this is not the cover that will hopefully be released soon. For updates about her work you can check out her Social Media like Facebook or her website (she has a great blog) I love her writing and I really liked the sweet trilogy, and a companion to the series Sweet Temptation told from Kaidan's point of view also comes out really soon SEPTEMBER 8th!

You guys should look out for her awesome books

I hope your doing well and have a great day!
Peace : )

TV show review Revenge!

Hey!

So there has been some big season finale episodes of a couple of my favourite shows and I want to vent my anger and all the feels!

Infinity X Infinity
Today I want to talk about revenge, this show was one of my favourites from the beginning! It was one of those shows were I would sit down with my mum and we would watch and be like "NO WAY" and "YOU GO GIRL". But sadly I found out after I had watched the 4th season finale that they aren't going to be making any more... : (. To be completely honest I did see this coming the story revolves around revenge and that has to end at one point you can't have it going around in an endless circle because that would get either really repetitive or boring or BOTH!

I do love these DVD covers
The official synopsis that I can fine for the show that I found ono the lovely internet which gives a really good overview of what the show is about

"Emily Thorne (Emily VanCamp) comes to the Hamptons and rents a beach house next to the Grayson family mansion for the summer. Emily is really Amanda Clarke, whose father was framed for treason when she was a little girl. After a lengthy trial, he was imprisoned for life, and was murdered in prison by agents of the people who framed him. Amanda was separated from him after his trial and never saw him afterwards. She has now returned to the Hamptons as an adult to exact revenge on those who wronged her and her father. Her primary target is Victoria Grayson (Madeleine Stowe), matriarch of the Grayson family, who loved and betrayed Amanda's father. The show focuses on Amanda's plot to destroy every individual who played a role in her father's imprisonment. Along the way, she discovers various facts about her father's past which change her plans many times. As the series progresses, Amanda brings in other individuals as allies for her plan.
This season... THE FEELS

As Amanda executes the stages of her elaborate plan, she finds it difficult to remain emotionally detached. She struggles to identify her true motivations and examines how her actions change her sense of identity. As she enlists trusted friends into her schemes, she worries how their involvement will change their lives and how she will proceed after she enacts her revenge on those who wronged her and her father."

And this show also has such a cool cast too, I love Emily Van Camp as I watched Everwood when I was younger plus she is in Captain America winter solider as well. She only had a small part in that but in the next Captain America I really hope that her part will be bigger. It did take me some time to get it in my head that I wasn't watching her in her more romcom type dramas like Everwood and Brothers and Sisters but once you see her character its great!. Amanda is just such an epic character she is ruthless and will do anything to protect the ones she loves but there is a soft side to her and watching her grow during the show was really cool, I credit the writers for doing that so well.
And every girl needs a BFF who is just as awesome, in revenge that is Nolan Ross (Gabriel Mann) he is probably my favourite character by far! He is sassy and smart being a IT wiz having his own company and being a billionaire plus he is on Amanda's side having been given his big break by Amanda's father David Clarke before his death.

I do love Amanda's choice in men too, and I like that the story focuses on Amanda and her revenge, yes there are love interests that play into the show but its always about the story, #JackPorter

#Victoria Grayson
And to all of these thriller revenge shows there needs to be a villain, I guess the main one would be Victoria Grayson (Madeleine Stowe) who is elegant and regal. I love that she is as ruthless as Amanda well really she is worse! The thing I liked a bout this show is she is out for revenge so there were more than just the Grayson's as Amanda's target. This made the show more entertaining and one of the reason's why I stuck around for so long.

I can see why people wouldn't like it as it was a little dragged out in some areas and did at times get a little annoying with the story but I really liked the growth and the way all the characters had there place even if I was like WTF as to some of the stuff happening! One certain death in season 3 did bring me to tears as I said no repeatedly to the TV but hey I get involved in my shows sometimes who can blame me!

The setting is great very sort of  like more classy gossip girl where its there mothers as there is sort of a housewives feeling with there queen bee and fighting for the top spot which makes it interesting with the revenge plot line. I love the assortment of other characters that have popped in throughout the series and I must say this was a good looking cast!

I love how this is back to being like the original
So the finale... I guessed a bit of what was going on as it was a little obvious but the smaller details were the parts like stumped me, I am one of those people that do like to guess the plot (My success rate at that is not so good... I think I have an overactive imagination and think of ideas far too elaborate) And I was wondering whether it would end in a big fluffy bow or not I was surprised to say it wasn't as clear cut as I was hoping and I mean a spin off could be quiet  cool hint hint ABC...

I liked the end and was happy with how the show finished off, I would say the finale was like 3.75 stars but the show is a 4 star show easily sometimes a 5 star depending on the season
If you like thriller revenge shows with a killer kick butt female lead than I would definitely give this show a watch especially now as you can marathon it till its finished. I'm sad its over but I'm ready for new shows that ABC has to offer woop woop!

I hope your doing good and have a great day
Peace : )

My Thoughts (Tried to be only a little spoilery)

I have never really read many books about witches (Besides the amazingness that is Harry Potter) so when I found out Claudia Gray's next book was a witch series I was excited to get into this genre more.

The story is follows Nadia as her family move to Captive Sounds after her mother abandons her family. Everything changes when she comes into town being saved by a mysteriuos stranger Mateo as she feels the dark forces of magic at play all around and in the town. It goes through her dealing with the fallout of trying to learn to be a witch with no teacher, creating interesting and dangerous combination for them and a exciting story for us! The town is full of magic but where is it coming from and how can she change whats been going on for years...

I like the characters and the relationships in this story, and is one of the reasons I love Claudia Gray's writing as she creates such great characters and personalities that can clash but also fit so well together! I like that even though Nadia has lost the ability to really learn magic and that side of herself it doesn't stop her from trying, as normally her mother should teach her all about this. Even though they are all affected from her mothers desertion Nadia still is acting as the pillar keeping the family together and taking care of them, it creates a loving atmosphere and relationship between Nadia and her father and brother. She is strong and I'm interesting to see the way Claudia takes her character.

The male character Mateo has such an interesting history as to how his family is involved with magic and Captive Sound but also his relationships with his own family which we get to see. I did find it hard to love Mateo at the beginning and it took me some time to find his place in the story. He relationship with best friend Elizabeth is interesting, seeing how she is with Mateo throughout the story but also how she feels about the immediate connection that Mateo has with Nadia. I thought these characters would create a love triangle but was surprised but the actual connection these characters have. I love that you get to see that he is a sweet person and very protective of his friends particularly Elizabeth and he doesn't look down at Nadia I really love there connection and the way they respect each other for who they are. And YAY for no insta love! woop woop

A character I really want to see more of is Verlaine, she is Nadia's best friend as they immediately connect when Nadia starts school. She is a really easy character to relate to as we have all been there bullied and the outcast at some point, you understand why Nadia and Verlaine become friends. She gives the story a nice stark with her funny comments (Plus she has amazing hair!), she is honest but loyal and compassionate I really hope that we get more Verlaine in the next books because she isn't like other characters and I really do think she connects more to the story then is on the surface in this first book.

I also really like that Claudia Gray likes to be diverse in her books as this is full with so many different types of people and they all have such different family lives that it makes for a great read character wide, I hope that she continues to be more developing with her characters in the next 2 books.

The setting is really cool, its not your classic small town story from the beginning the reader and Nadia know there is something else going on here. You see it in the descriptions of the town that there is so many dark and twisted houses. It brings a mood of a little doom and gloom there you know something isn't right its like something is just sucking the soul from the town and I liked that dark contrast.

I just want to say how different and unique the magic system is in this book! it reminds me a lot of the classic ideas of witches where its always the woman and they pass the skills down through there daughters and have covens and what not but its not making potions or using spell books. Spells are connected with memories and emotions and each creates something different from making fire to changing your appearance. Its fun seeing Nadia try to understand them and learn as much as she can to help this town and uncover its secrets. Plus who wouldn't want to know how to levitate I mean come on that would be so cool!

I don't want to talk about who the villain is but oh golly it got me this book, I was not sure who it was for a time there and then I was like NO WAY! but the villain is done so well, its understated in there moves against the main characters. The villain is smart but also doesn't care about anyone but getting what they want and getting all the power. I love the way Claudia Gray writes villains and how they change I'm very excited to see where she takes it forward with the next books!

I feel like Claudia Gray as a writer is amazing, her novels for me just flow and you totally can end up reading these books in one sitting! The story flows and so does the characters. I love the development that she puts into her novels we get the back story of Nadia but also some of the culture surrounded the other characters and of course the magic system which is easy to follow yet still complex enough to be interesting and hold your attention.

My rating:
