2017 So Far

Hey Guys!

Already into March and have happily gotten through quite a few books!
33292121
Goddess by Ednah Walters (Runes Series #7)

Finally a new Runes novel was here! I was super excited to jump back into Cora and Echo's story since a lot was going to go down! I like a lot of the book but was a little eh about the way the story went, still looking forward to getting more from this world though as some serious crap is about to go down and I'm not sure how all of my favourite people are going to deal and survive!
The first book in the series is called Runes and its normally free or super cheap so what better way to start a series and see what you think.

West By Stacey Marie Brown
32251115
West was one of my favourite characters from Darkness series and I was excited to not only get back into that world by see how my boy was doing! I love his humour and really did enjoy the book, a lot of twists and turns but a little bittersweet. The people in this series are so different to what I have read in the past and its such a new take on what people would call Fae. Best place to start is with the Darkness series or the Collector series which is also set in this same world and even has more hot character. I would say its not for younger readers! An easy step back into this world especially with a new companion series coming out!

27827555
Ash: The Hive Trilogy by Jasmin Eve and Leia Stone

Only recently got into this series and am really enjoying this series, it was just what I needed and its not perfect but keeps me intrigued. Haven't read a lot of Vampire books in a long time so cool to see a new twist mixing them with a kind of dystopian modern day.  Its cool to see a different take on the normal vampire story and it really has some great characters that keep me going back! At the moment I am just about to start book 3 and see how this story is going to end, a lot has to happen so excited to see what happens to my favourite sexy six and Charlie!

31553869Raven Series and Slumber by J.L Weil

I do love J.L Weil's writing and was happy to read more of the series she has written and I was super surprised. I just jumped in not knowing much and fell in love! such a cool concept and nothing I had read before. A lot of action and epic powers which you would not normally expect. I like the way its built into our world yet it is very different! The first book in the series is White Raven and then only 2 other books that you would just fly through, easy read! Plus I really like the cover and I'm normally not a person on the cover fan.
33355016

Also read Slumber by her as well, all I knew is that it had something to do with Sleeping beauty but the world is so awesome and fun that I read it way too quickly! The main character was fun and relatable but the really cool thing was the world and what resulted from such a crazy catastrophe. This book definitely needs to be given a chance and more people should take a look, it is a good start and has a lot to build on with twists and turns. The next book is set to come out in December of this year so plenty of time to catch up! Plus  just love that cover!

Hidden Magic by Stephany Wallace
32469977

I was very intrigued by this story as there really are not that many druid books that I know of, I went in not expecting much but did quite enjoy the story. The magic system was really cool and having 2 POV's did confuse at the beginning but made sense later, and I think I can see why people would not like this book, the characters at times are very playful and can seem a little immature but people just need to understand the background to understand the characters. I do really love the Druid history and is one of the reasons I want to keep reading the series, it adds to the story and there is a lot of unanswered questions.

Myths of Immortality by Raye Wagner (Sphinx book #3)
26079201

I was so excited to read this because I love this story! Hope is such a great character and been through so much. The story has a lot of twists and turns, going to places people don't really come back from but that ending makes me very angry that I have to wait so long for the next book! The first book in this series is called Curse of the Sphinx and so far 3 books are out with more to come! It is set in modern day but with a twist Demi gods and greek mythology. I have always been such a fan of greek mythology and take any chance I can get to read a different authors take. We see so much more about what happens when the gods decide to mess with the mortal world. Really recommend the story!

21847057Dark Magic by Madeline Freeman (Clearwater Witches #6)

This series has been a bit of a guilty pleasure! I love some good witch books now and really have enjoyed learning with the characters on what they can really do but it also has so much more then just witches that give it an edge. Sad to see this series end but needed to know what was going to happen! Following all my favourite characters this last one definitely had a lot of action and a lot more depth then some of the others taking you into a different world of magic. The series starts with Crystal Magic and we follow Krissa as she is thrown into a world that she could never have imagined. A lot of books in the series but for me worth it!

Still got a lot to read and it seems my TBR just gets bigger!

Hope your doing well and have a great day!
Peace :)

Series Wrap ups! #1 The Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo

Hey Guys!

I have actually managed to finish a few series in the last few Months and I really want to talk about them! Most I have talked about here a lot but I have my favourites and finally getting though my most anticipated ones!

First I have both started and finished the Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo last month! I could not put this series down it was soooooooooooo good. The series starts with Shadow and Bone which I read in like a day as I was hooked and needed more.

This series follows your average girl Alina in war torn Ravka, not only do they have enemies on all sides but right down the middle is the Shadow Fold! An area of pure darkness with crazy creatures living there when Alina a Cartographers Assistant in the first army along with her team and a few friends try to cross the fold when they are attacked. With her best friend Mal down for the count Alina finds a power within that saves them and could be just what Ravka has been waiting for. Making the ranks of the Magical Grisha she meets The Darkling, a loner who keeps to himself but the leader of the magical second army!

I mean come on that basis has to hook you in, I consider this sort of intro to fantasy as it has a lot of these elements to it but doesn't fully make a classic fantasy series. The world building is great though and I never found myself bored by the descriptions and details that you need to have when reading a book like this. Ravka is beautiful and mystical, throughout the series you do travel around to a lot of places with Leigh's writing style for me it just felt effortless. The landscapes, the buildings plus maps even make you feel like your there with Alina and Mal fighting the good fight.

Alina was a great protagonist too, I loved watching her grow through all 3 books to realise she isn't just average no one is and that she can be so much more but also mean more to herself. Growing up in a orphanage with her best friend Malyen, Alina has been sheltered and watching her go out into the world and experience so much was cool to see. And I love there relationship as well the way it grows and changes throughout the books. She is for me easy to relate to and even though I wasn't the biggest fan of her in the first book I grew to love her more and more.

Mal is a great character himself and a great person to have opposite Alina who will call her on her shit. I loved watching him grow as a character as well and how he took being in this environment and thrived on it.

The relationships between Alina and the other characters are great over the series especially her and The Darkling, the back and forth they have were some of my favourite parts in the books! I love how Alina was always by herself but throughout the books she meets some really cool people and builds relationships with them, Strumhound is a favourite of mine as well as Tamar and Tolya,

The romance in this series did annoy me at times but the way they were handling it made sense for what was going on, I would have liked to see a bit more from it but enjoyed what I got. A lot of people do have issues with the first book as you are sort of thrown into this world but I think its like most fantasy type books that you need to keep reading and get past those bits so you have been warned.

The Darkling's Story
I really loved the magical system in this series too as well as paring it with the normal royal system, normally these days you find you get them mixed or one without the other and the political side of this series was very interesting but new and different for me as a reader. I love how you have The Darking with his darkness abilities and then you pair it with elemental magic like water, air and fire movers. Even to include someone who is good at making stuff be a magical equivalent was super cool in this series. I particularly would be a Heartender, your like a healer but can kill you instantly at the same time!

I feel like this series just got better and better with the direction of the plot and the building of the characters, especially The Darkling. With a name like that you would think we should hate him but I hated to love him. He was so mysterious in the first book that when you keep reading you realise there are so many layers to him and I felt the same at the end. There is also a sort of novella on him before all the action in the Grisha series which I recommend you read either after the 1st or even after the second one.

I loved this series and even though it has a lot of mixed reviews I'm happy I read it, there are so many cool little folk stories as well that go along with this too which really help to bring the story to life. All of this has got me even more pumped to start reading Six of Crows Leigh's newer series set in the same world but with a new exciting cast! This is also a Duology and both books are out so I will be getting to these soon.

Hope your doing well!
Peace : )

Currently reading!

Hey Guys!

Surprisingly I have not read that much at the moment! It has just been catching up on series that already have books out!

Weirdly enough for me I'm in the process of reading 3 different books depending what mood I am in!
I'm reading West by Stacey Marie Brown which if you have been to this blog before you know I was super hyped for! I just didn't have time when it came out so I just have started reading now and am liking it so far. You do need to have read her Darkness series starting with Darkness of Light as it does feature characters from that as well as her Collector series which starts with City in Embers but those are just extra 'OMG its so and so' I have mixed feelings going into this as I did love the character of West but when I read the synopsis I was a little hmm about it so far its okay I'm just hoping it will get better. As far as I know its a stand alone book to bridge the gap between the Darkness series and her new series featuring an OG Kennedy. West follows the story of a Dark Dweller, which is a type of dark fae as he tries to get his mojo back and is sent on a quest with a beautiful siren by the leader of the Dark Fae! This book is not safe for everyone as I would consider all of Stacey Marie Brown's books as NA with violence and sexy times.

Another book I am reading is an ARC copy of the 5th book in the elementals series The Hands of Time by Michelle Madow, being part of her street team means that I got the book and will have a review up soon for it. As this is the 5th book in a series I don't want to say too much but as it was a cliff hanger with Book 4 I am more then happy to know what happens next especially as it wasn't my favourite in the series. Its the conclusion so I am so excited to see how this ends, this is a Greek mythology series around witches I have a small review in a blog post I did earlier and you can actually get the book free! It follows Nicole as she and her family move to a new town where it isn't exactly what Nicole realizes her first day at school she is told she is a witch!

The last book that I am currently reading is Dark Magic by Madeline Freeman this is the 6th and final book in the Clearwater Witches series. The series starts with Crystal Magic which is cool to have these covers side by side to show how far Krissa has come! I have really enjoyed this series so far as I have always had a thing about witch books. After the cliff hanger in the 5th book Cursed Magic finally I can find out whats happening with my girl Krissa and for the love of everything good in books hope she gets on my ship! This series follows Krissa as she is forced to move to a new town living with her aunt Jodi, some of the mysterious things that have been going on in her life start to make sense and craziness ensues! I like the character of Krissa she is not what I would normally like but she isn't too whiny and she is thoughtful plus caring. It has a great bunch of side characters who are both her friends and enemies so its been an enjoyable read!

Hope you guys are doing well!
Peace : )

Blizzard Games I want to play!

Hey!

I always think of myself as a noob gamer so lets talk about more games I could try be a noob at! I love Blizzard games not only can they make a great and fun game they also make some epic characters, stories and check out there trailers!

Overwatch

This game has been out for ages but I think its a good one and I think brings a bit some something else to a normal shooter game. I mean not only do you get to work together and fight but you get call abilities like Mei who shoots ice, Ana who puts people to sleep or even Bastion who is just a giant machine gun robot! I think this adds so much to the game and makes it really fun! I mean you get really cool maps where you have to secure a point or escort a payload. The maps are in different places too like Temple of Anubis in Egypt or Route 66 in USA. Not to mention you get to level up and get cool tags or outfits!

I really want to give this more of a go and see if I can whip some ass!

Guild Wars 2

I have talked about this before on my blog but I really want to get into this game more especially with the new stories they add. I mean it can be a little annoying to play the same thing over and over again but they continue to add more stories to get cooler items and the expansion Heart of Thorns. It is also now free to play if you want to give it a go, you don't get everything but its a great way to have a look at the game. Its great with different races and classes like the massive Norns or the cool plant people Sylvari and then pick cool classes like Revenant or Mesmer!. I mean you have World vs World, where you get into a team and you have to take over the world with you colours, then PVP which is obvious Player VS Player where you are in a team of 5 and battle against other players. Then just the normal story where you do your own story of your character and then the new episodes the add. Another cool thing they added is Fractuals which help get awesome items and epic boss fights.

Always worth a second look this game!

World of Warcraft

I never thought I would say this, maybe its due to the hype of this game at the moment with the newest expansion or watching BF play the earlier expansion with friends but I kinda want to give it a go! Its similar to GW2 where you have different races like Undead or Night Elf and you get to be either the Horde or the Alliance! Then choose a class like a Druid, Monk or Paladin.
You can do cool quests, raids and dungeons plus its a great game to play with others and make new friends but also get some cool items. I always thought that it was too complicated because some people have so many skills and so much going on with there screen! But I have been watching a bit more and so many streamers have been playing the new expansion Legion, there is one thing that Blizzard know how to do besides make great games is to make awesome Trailers I would really look at some of these cause dam!

I need more games to play I know once I get a laptop or set up I will be able to play more and find more exciting games!

Hope your doing great and have a great day!
Peace : )

First in a Series books!

Hey!

So I have been trying to branch out and read more different and new series, the great thing about some of the authors I have been looking into have been from some really great Indie Authors!

Here is a small insight into what I have been reading and maybe some of these might be a bit interesting, if anyone has more suggestions let me know, my TBR is getting bigger and bigger! Too many books not enough time!

IGNITED by Desni Dantone

This was a series I found when I joined a Facebook group where you talk about myth books, I orignally joined for a different series but saw this was free on Amazon so I thought why not try it! I'm really glad that I did since I have been in such a mythology mood this was perfect. I went in not knowing much about it but it was great learning about what was going on with the main character Kris. There are some lovely guys and some action with great relationships, and I really love that everything gets crazy but we still have a BFF friendship shown!
It gives off a bit Jennifer L armentrout with Wendy Higgins and just epicness! I recommend if you are in the mood for some angst but badass situations I would pick this series up!

Author: Desni Dantone
Series: Ignited #1 (Still Free on Amazon)
Published: August 28th 2013 by Laine D Publishing
Genre: YA/Mythology/Paranormal
Goodreads Synopsis:

"Seventeen year old Kris Young is on the run from a throng of superhuman golden-eyed freaks hell-bent on seeing her dead, and she doesn't know why. Good thing she has her guardian angel to protect her...sort of.

Kris is aided by Nathan, the mysterious man that ends up being anything but angelic when he rescues her for the fourth time in fourteen years. Even if the handsome hero illusion is shattered by his harsh treatment of her, he knows how to fight this strange enemy and is determined to keep her safe at all costs.

As the body count rises in their wake, Nathan introduces Kris to a world in which not everyone is human and the battle lines between good and evil are clearly drawn. Kris's piece in the puzzle is something neither is aware of and, as they uncover the truth, neither is prepared for what they find. Overcoming twists and revelations that shatter both of their lives, they discover that nothing is as it seems and nothing, least of all their hearts, are safe.

From debut author, Desni Dantone, Ignited is the first novel in a tale of first love, mystery and adventure that will introduce you to an exciting new world as Kris discovers how she fits in it."

LADY MIDNIGHT by Cassandra Clare

This is from the amazing Cassandra Clare as she introduces us to a new set of shadowhunters and the challenges they have to face! This is one of my most highly anticipated books of 2016 especially because of how much I love the Mortal Instruments and the Infernal Devices. If you have read the Mortal Instruments then you do see the some of the characters in Lady Midnight which I liked and I did enjoy the book.

Its great to see another kick butt female character in this world so much different to the ones before her. I also love the friendship and family in this one, since this is such a larger family then the other books its nice to see and a much needed change. I'm really excited to see where this goes in the future and I hope its going to be good with just as much action!

THE PROPHECY OF SHADOWS by Michelle Madow

This is another great author that I just stumbled across and never looked back! The author is super sweet and great too! I really liked this story I mean wouldn't want witches and greek mythology its a great combination, the other thing that is great about this series and it puts in stories from mythology that not very many people look into and it gives it a great edge.

I do like the characters as well! The friendships are so great and putting such a crazy group of teenage's that you get a bit of everything even a bit of love! I like the way the story goes and it has its twists and turns so excited to see whats next!
