I feel like doing series reviews is easier for me so I can get all of it out all together and give a better overview of how I really feel about a series with a small description of how I feel about them all too.
This series is called the Divisa Series and is by the awesomely cool author J.L Weil, I discovered this series when I was looking for new books for my kindle that I had just gotten, scrolling through then saw the first book in the series Saving Angel, which by the way is free for kindle on Amazon! So I thought it sounded really cool I mean I love a good demon book at the moment.
SAVING ANGEL
Title:Saving Angel
Author: J.L Weil
Series: Divisa Series #1
Publisher: Dark Magick Publishing September 1st 2012
Genre:Fantasy/Young Adult/Paranormal
Goodreads Synopsis:
"I couldn’t help but wonder what my life would be like if we had never moved to the ho-dunk town of Spring Valley, Illinois. Sure the internet service is splotchy, there is nothing but miles of wheat fields, and I probably wouldn’t be faced with death at every corner.
My only neighbor in this god forsaken town is…well, there really is only one to describe him—hot as hell. With his sinful dark looks, unusually silver eyes, and kissable lips, there is something about him that is more than meets the eye.
Of course I am determined to find out.
Chase Winters might be drool-worthy, but he is also insufferable, arrogant and…in short a d-bag. Our relationship is anything but love at first sight. Not even close. There is something weird about the family living next door.
What I hadn’t expected to find is an underworld of trouble.
Chase and his cousins Lexi and Travis are Divisa—half-demon, half-human. Getting them angry is hardly in my best interest, not if I want to live.
As it turns out, that might be the least of my problems. I’ve been tagged by Hell.
Now every ugly, nasty being from hades is on my trail. I have suddenly became a magnet for demon disaster, and the only way I am getting out of this alive is by putting my life in the demon spawn’s hands.
One wrong decision and my butt is toast."
Look before I go further yes this book is like Obsidian and I think people haven't been giving this series a chance because they all think its the same... KEEP READING people this book is so different and it deserves this chance so GO GO GO!
I will admit I was one of those people who were on the fence as I had read some of the reviews about this book but I am a firm believer in giving every book there own chance and I am beyond happy I gave this book a go. I fell in love with badass Chase and snarky sarcastic Angel that you want to know what happens and you do get emotionally invested in the outcome.
I loved the characters right off the bat! Angel was such a likeable character and it was easy to relate to her especially with her geeky love of gaming, and one who reads my posts will know I am a pleb noob gamer so I wouldn't want to verse Angel! She is already such a strong character and I love the changes she makes through the series.
Now Chase, the lovely Chase Winters is hot! and so badass but I love how you see a different side to him when he is with Angel and his cousins as well. He is a born leader and fighter I really like his dedication to his family.
Lexi and Travis who are Chases cousins are great too they bring so much more to the book and its a perfect balance for the banter that happens (a lot) between Chase and Angel. Travis is so gentle and funny but when it comes down to it he will always protect his family, and Lexi she is such a relief in this series she is girly and loves shopping. The friendship between Lexi and Angel is probably one of my favourites because they are so opposite and it just works! reminding me of my best friend.
Another character to mention is Emma Deen, who I am not going to spoil too much about but we learn abit about her in the first book and she is the narrator in 2 books in the Divisa series, Losing Emma and Breaking Emma. I did somewhat enjoy these extras to the series at times Losing Emma narrative annoyed me but it was nice to learn about the 3 Divisa before the events of Saving Angel. And she does add a lot to the series but these 2 books would be my least favourite.

Next in the series is Hunting Angel, I really did like this one in the series, its just after the crazy action of the first book and this is where it gets a lot better this is where people need to be. I liked the plot and the development of the whole Divisa storyline. You start to learn about what it means to be one and what they have to deal with on a daily bases.

The next book in the series is not in fact told by Angels point of view like the other novels, this one is completely all Chase and I think this is perfectly timed. Its so cool to see in his head and find out more about his character on such a deeper level, Loving Angel.
This series all comes to a close with Redeeming Angel which has only just recently come out! I was fangirling a little when I saw that it was out and waiting for me on my kindle xD This rounds off the series and I don't want to spoil but I was happy with the conclusions, though one thing is that it feels so short, one minute I am starting the book and then boom I'm 70% in. I would have liked more in the book to be expanded a little, I did hear there is another spin off coming but still just a little more girl!
Divisa #5 |
Overall I really liked this series and it has been really fun reading it, I love the world and the characters personalities they blend and clash so much that it makes for a funny read. Its classic and awh and wow and dayum! I would really recommend it, I even gave the last book 5 stars! Oh but those covers not my favourite, the backgrounds look cool just some of the layout is like yeah. Can't wait to read more from this author though! bring on the next book! And with the reading order I read the first 2 books before I read Emma's story so I think its okay to read Angel then Losing Emma but also works if you read them in order. I found Emma's story more enjoyable after I had read Saving Angel.
This series from me gets a 4 Stars, I loved most of the series there was just a couple of things I would have liked to go a little bit different, but worth the read!
I hope you are all doing well and have a nice day
Peace : )
